Wahl Peanut Clipper Review

The Wahl Peanut Clipper was introduced in 2007 and its popularity has grown over that time, largely due to its ease of use, small size, light weight and yet powerful motor.

It has become somewhat of a ‘style icon’ among the top ranges of clippers with its peanut shape and funky body design. It almost looks too gimmicky to be taken seriously. But Wahl is another strong and reputable company that has specialized in electrical hair products since it began in 1919. And the Peanut is actually a very clever design that works brilliantly.

It is only 4 inches long and weighs just 4 ounces, but sits perfectly in the palm of your hand, like it was born to be there! It is so easy to operate and maneuver, and even has a reversible finger ring for extra control while in use.

The Peanut Clipper set comes with 4 attachment combs for trimming different hair lengths (1/8 inch to 1/2 inch), a detachable blade and blade guard, a cleaning brush, oil and instructions. Having the ability to replace the blade is always a good feature for any clipper.

The Peanut comes in 2 ranges; Just a clipper, or a clipper and trimmer for head and facial hair which can be bought with an attached power cord or cordless. The cordless version comes with a battery recharging station and the clipper operates on just 1 AA battery. (2 rechargeable batteries are supplied).  If you travel quite a lot or prefer the freedom to work intricately without a trailing power cord, then the cordless version might be a good investment and it still produces good power even on just 1 battery.

The Peanut clipper has recently been updated and now has a slightly more powerful motor than its predecesor.

Conclusion

Don’t be fooled by the novelty look to these clippers, they have a lot of power to perform good quality shaves. Compact and light weight with a nice feel to them. I wouldn’t recommend them for cutting longer or thicker hair or wet hair. I’m sure they would still do the job, but I think the Peanut’s strength lies in its close shaves and easy control. Plus you get the quality of a Wahl product for a very good price.
